Building a Customer Care LiveOps Solution

NCSoft

NCSoft is a leading publisher of producer of desktop video game titles gloabally.

NCSoft is a leading public gaming company known globally for its expansive portfolio of desktop and mobile titles. With millions of players engaging across franchises, live events, and online communities, NCSoft operates at a scale where operational reliability and player experience are inseparable.

As the company prepared to launch a new video game platform, the demands on its internal systems increased significantly. Supporting player engagement, customer care, and live in-game events required more than incremental improvements—it required a modern, extensible administration platform capable of evolving alongside NCSoft’s growing ecosystem.

To meet these demands, NCSoft partnered with Azumo to design and build an enterprise-ready game administration solution that could support rapid growth, complex environments, and continuous innovation.

The Challenge

NCSoft’s existing internal tooling was under increasing strain. The company operated across numerous environments, each with different requirements for administration, configuration, and monitoring. Managing these environments introduced operational overhead and slowed the rollout of new services and game features.

At the same time, limited back-office APIs made it difficult for development teams to efficiently manage game data, events, and customer interactions. This constraint created friction for new game development and made it harder to respond quickly to player needs.

Compounding the challenge was limited internal availability and expertise to design and implement a new administration platform from the ground up—especially one that needed to meet enterprise security standards while remaining flexible enough to support live gameplay and ongoing releases.

NCSoft needed a solution that could unify operations, reduce complexity, and empower internal teams—without disrupting existing games or player experiences.

The Solution

Azumo partnered closely with NCSoft to design and deliver a modern, React-based web administration platform purpose-built for large-scale gaming operations.

The platform was architected with modularity at its core. New administrative modules could be introduced seamlessly—without pausing applications or interrupting live gameplay—allowing NCSoft to evolve the platform as new games, services, and events were introduced.

On the backend, Azumo developed a suite of scalable, plug-and-play APIs that standardized access to game services and operational data. These APIs reduced dependency bottlenecks, simplified integration for new titles, and created a consistent foundation for future development.

Security and access control were treated as first-class concerns. Azumo implemented Single Sign-On (SSO) with role-based permissions, ensuring that administrators, operators, and support teams could securely access the tools they needed—without overexposing sensitive systems.

Throughout the engagement, Azumo followed an agile development approach, enabling frequent iteration, close collaboration with NCSoft stakeholders, and rapid validation of new features in real-world workflows.
